LONDON (Sporting Alert) — After finishing second in their Champions League football group, Manchester City could face some of the big guns in Europe in the last 16.
The official drawing will be on Monday, but here is a look at who lines up and are waiting for the English Premier League side.
Manchester City finished second to holdersin Group D, despite coming from 2-0 down to beat the hosts 3-2 on matchday six Tuesday night, which puts the EPL side in line to face one of the top teams in the competition.
With Bayern Munich out of the picture because no side can be match with a team from their own group and the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are from their own country, City will skip a few of the top guns.
However, Spanish La Liga sides, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid all topped their groups, as well as last year’s beaten finallists Borussia Dortmund and PSG, and these are the teams in line to be paired with Manuel Pellegrini side.
But a confident James Milner says the EPL outfits has no fear of drawing one of the big guns in the second round, adding that the on form Citizens are playing some of its best football at the moment.
“We’ll take anyone in the next round. We’ll just concentrate on us,” the England winger said on SkySports.com.
“It’ll be a tough team but, after this, we’ll take confidence and know we can progress.
