LEEDS (SPORTING ALERT) — Chelsea FC found energy in the second half to score a come-from-behind 5-1 victory over Leeds United in their Capital One Cup Quarter-Final clash on Wednesday night.
Luciano Becchio had Elland Road rocking in the 37th minute when he expertly guided home a well weighted low cross from the left hand side Jerome Thomas.
And although Chelsea were dominating the game and possession, the Blues found themselves down 1-0 heading into the half-time interval.
After the break it was clear that Rafa Benitez’s side wanted the win more following the disappointment at the Club World Cup, and the team came out firing.
Juan Mata, Branislav Ivanovic, Victor Moses, Eden Hazard and Fernando Torres were all on target in the second half as Chelsea fired in five unanswered goals on the other side of 45-minutes.
Mata got the ball rolling two-minutes into the second with a nice looking strike, before Ivanovic and Moses added to the tally before the 70-minute mark.
Substitute Hazard made it 4-1 nine-minutes from time and then Torres found the net quickly after for the comfortable trashing.
The last time Chelsea and Leeds United met was eight-year-ago in the Premier League. Chelsea won that game 1-0.
