(Sporting Alert) — Chelsea suffered a shocking 3-1 defeat at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion in preseason game on Saturday afternoon.
The Barclays Premier League outfits field a very strong starting line-up that included the likes of Eden Hazard, Frank Lampard, John Terry and Fernando Torres and went on to take the lead.
England international Lampard gave Chelsea the lead in the 35th minute, but Brighton & Hove Albion struck three unanswered goals to take the win and handed the European champions their third straight preseason defeat this summer.
The goal scorers for Brighton were Vicente, who equalised in the 39th minute, Ashley Barnes who finished from from close-range, and Andrew Crofts, who scored three minutes before time.
Chelsea were hoping to use the game as preparation for next Sunday’s Community Shield against Manchester City at Villa Park, and manager Roberto Di Matteo will now have his hands full ahead of the clash.
