LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Chelsea fans don’t like the signing of Rafael Benitez and they are letting the owner and the management know.
A section of the stands, as predicted showed their disagreement with Benitez becoming the Chelsea FC manager by showering him with the sound of boos as the new man in charge came out of the tunnel behind his team.
Benitez replaced the axed Roberto Di Matteo last week, but despite his track record and fantastic CV, the supporters showed their disapproval with owner Roman Abramovich by sounding “One Di Matteo,” around the home stands just before the game got underway.
But although he was greeted with whistles and jeers after his introduction over the public address system, Benitez has received a small amount of applauding for his inclusion of Fernando Torres in the side.
That though, was quickly cut down when the focus of attention went to the minute’s applause to honour Dave Sexton.
Benitez has become the ninth Chelsea manager in the Abramovich era.
