LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Fernando Torres has already scored an early goal for Chelsea FC in today’s Barclays Premier League game against the on form Aston Villa.
Torres took advantage of some poor marking at the back by the Aston Villa defenders to guide a soaring header from 15 yards out past a hapless Brad Guzan in goal with just three minutes on the clock.
The goal was Torres’ seventh in his last six games and was the Blues’ first at home in the Premier League since Rafa Benitez took charge.
Many believe the media transfer news and gossips about Chelsea wanting to sign Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao in January, has increased Torres’ goalscoring appetite once again.
In fact, the Spanish international has recently welcomed Chelsea to go and sign another striker as it would potentially help to lift his game.
Many Blues fans were not pleased with the club’s move to bring Benitez to Stamford Bridge, but the former Liverpool boss is evidently finding the magic touch to get Torres back into his goal scoring form again.
Chelsea are certainly playing a little more direct football then usual and this tactic has certainly been helping Torres.
