Chicago (41-33) erased a 16 point deficit to pick up the vital road, with guard Nate Robinson hitting the go-ahead bucket in the closing seconds of the game.
Carlos Boozer finished with 29 points and 18 rebounds, while Luol Deng added 18 points and seven rebounds in the win.
The Bulls also got 16 points and 10 rebounds from Jimmy Butler and Robinson, who finished with 12 points.
All-Star point guard Deron Williams paced the Nets (43-32) with 30 points and ten assists in the defeat.
Brook Lopez had 28 points and five boards, but missed the late jumper that would have forced overtime. Joe Johnson added 10 points for Brooklyn, which jumped out to a 26-13 first quarter lead.
