LEXINGTON, Ky. — Isaiah Briscoe scored 18 points on 53.8 percent shooting and No. 1 Kentucky improved to 7-0 after pulling away from Illinois State in the second half en route to a 75-63 college basketball win on Monday night.

The freshman Briscoe, who shot 7-for-13 from the floor, was scoring a collegiate-best, and he also had seven rebounds and three assists in the win.

Jamal Murray added 16 points and five rebounds and Marcus Lee went 5-for-6 from the field on his way to collecting a double-double of 13 points and 12 boards, along with two blocks for the Wildcats, who was winning seven straight to start the season in back-to-back campaigns.

DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell scored a game-high 22 points to go along with six rebounds to lead Illinois State (3-5).

Roland Griffin and Mikyle McIntosh each had 14 points in the defeat for the Redbirds, who dropped their fifth of the season and three of the last four.

Despite the win, Kentucky, which was named the top-ranked team in the latest AP Top 25 college basketball rankings, will be disappointed with its 2-for-12 shooting from 3-point range for 16.7 percent.

The Wildcats will next take on UCLA on Thu, Dec 3.

No. 15 OREGON 78, FRESNO ST. 73

EUGENE, Ore. — Dillon Brooks scored 21 points and led four starters in double figures and No. 15 Oregon held off a late rally from Fresno State to secure a 78-73 win in their college basketball fixture at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Monday night.

Brooks, who was 7-for-15 on shooting, also grabbed 10 rebounds for the Ducks (6-0) who stayed undefeated with the victory.

Chris Boucher had 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks, Elgin Cook added 14 points and five boards, while Tyler Dorsey finished with 12 points in the win.

Marvelle Harris scored 18 points, including 13 in a lively 16-2 run for Fresno State, which trailed by 18 points with a little over six and a half minutes left.

However, the Bulldogs (5-1) fell short in the end and dropped their first game of the campaign.

Paul Watson added 11 and six boards and Torren Jones finished 10 points and 11 rebounds in the defeat for the travelers.
