MICHIGAN — Nick Ward had 22 points and nine rebounds, and Michigan State knocked off No. 16 Wisconsin 84-74 in a Big Ten college basketball action on Sunday.
Freshman Miles Bridges scored 12 of his 17 points in the second half and added seven rebounds and four assists for the Spartans (18-11, 10-6 Big Ten).
Matt McQuaid scored 15 points and Cassius Winston flirted with a triple-double after finishing with 10 points, eight assists and seven rebounds for Michigan State, which won two straight and four of the last five games overall.
Nigel Hayes led Wisconsin with 22 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, while Bronson Koenig ended with 17 points and six rebounds in the defeat.
Zak Showalter scored with 15 points and Ethan Happ grabbed 11 rebounds for the Badgers (22-7, 11-5), who dropped two straight to non-ranked opponents and lost four of the last five overall.
Wisconsin led 10-4 early in the game, but the Spartans rallied to take a 27-19 lead after the 10-minute mark and then build the advantage to 13 points in the first half.
The Badgers, who shot 48.4 percent in the first half, came back to trim the advange to 38-37 at half time.
Michigan State, which shot 48 percent in the second half and 46.7 percent overall, outscored Wisconsin 46-37 after the break to seal the win.
In other AP Top 25 scores on Sunday, No. 7 Louisville (23-6, 11-5 ACC) put together two solid periods of basketball to beat Syracuse (17-13, 9-8) 88-68 in ACC action, while University of Central Florida (19-10, 10-7 American) picked up an upset 53-49 victory over No. 15 Cincinnati (25-4, 14-2).
