One of the biggest debates on Sunday sparked after the announcement was made that Northern Illinois would play Florida State in the Discover Orange at the Miami Sun Life Stadium on New Year’s Day.
Many had thought the Oklahoma Sooners had done enough to earn a spot and blast the college football BCS system as a joke.
Oklahoma will instead play in the AT&T Cotton against Texas A&M. The Tostitos Fiesta will see Oregon vs. Kansas State, while the Allstate Sugar sees Louisville taking on Florida.
Georgia and Nebraska will match talents in the Capital One Bowl after falling in their respective conference championship games.
Another good game is expected to be in the Chick-fil-A Bowl, where LSU takes on Clemson.
Michigan goes in the Outback Bowl against South Carolina(10-2) in what is expected to be another well entertaining game between Big Ten and SEC opponents.
The Bulldogs would have preferred to be playing in the national championship game, but missed out after losing to defending champions Alabama in the SEC title game on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Georgia Tech and an underachieving USC battle for the Hyundai Sun Bowl on Dec. 31 in El Paso, Texas, Texas and Oregon State have been invited to play in the Valero Alamo Bowl, Northwestern and Mississippi State will play in the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl, and UCLA Bruins and Baylor Bears set a first time meeting in the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl at Qualcomm Stadium..
