College Football Playoff Rankings

TULSA, Okla., Sporting Alert – Clemson and Alabama stayed No. 1 and No. 2 in the College Football Playoff Top 25 Rankings, but Notre Dame, and of course, Ohio State both fell out of the top four.

New to the CFP top four this week are Oklahoma at No. 3 and Iowa at No. 4, while Michigan State and Notre Dame are the first two teams out.

The college football playoff selection committee opted to keep Clemson at No. 1, despite several pundits calling for the Crimson Tide to move above the Tigers.

Clemson is undefeated this season with a perfect 11-0 record, while Alabama is 10-1, but on current form looked the better team at this stage in the season.

Meanwhile, the Sooners (10-1) have been rewarded for a series of impressive performances in the latter part of the season, which was topped off with a narrow 30-29 win over then-No. 18 TCU on Saturday.

Bob Stoops side jumped four places this week in the poll.

Oklahoma will next take on state rivals Oklahoma State this weekend in a game that means a whole lot to both teams, as the battle for the Big 12 title is still wide open and three teams still have a chance of making the college football playoff semi-final.

Iowa (11-0) has been rewarded for their undefeated run thus far, as they improved one place to No. 4 after beating Purdue 40-20 at the weekend.

Michigan State, following the 17-14 victory over defending champion Ohio State last Saturday, moves up four spots to No. 5.

On Saturday, the Spartans (10-1) will take on Penn State and a win would see them clinching the Big Ten East and book a place into the Big Ten championship game.

Notre Dame (10-1), however, slipped two places to No. 6, after failing to impress in the 19-16 win against Boston College the last time out.

Baylor (9-1), Ohio State (10-1), Stanford (9-2), Michigan (9-2) completed the top 10.

The College Football Playoff top 15 was rounded out by Oklahoma State (10-1), Florida (10-1), Florida State (9-2), North Carolina (10-1) and Navy (9-1).

LSU 15, Houston 19, Memphis 21, USC 24 and Wisconsin 25 fell out of the CFP top 25 rankings this week.
