KANSAS, Sporting Alert – Clemson, Alabama and Oklahoma continue to occupy the top three places in the ESPN College Football Power Rankings for Week 14.
The Tigers (12-0, No. 1 CFP) collected 297 points for the week, after ending the regular season with a 37-32 win at South Carolina on Saturday.
They stay undefeated this campaign and tied for the most wins in a season, which was previously achieved during the 1981 championship term, according to ESPN Stats and Info.
They now head into next week’s battle with North Carolina (11-1, No. 14 CFP), hoping to become the fifth straight Atlantic Division team to win the ACC championship.
Alabama (11-1, No. 2 CFP) stayed No. 2 this week with 287 College Football Power Ranking points.
The Crimson Tide went to Auburn and beat the host 29-13 to close out the regular season and is now looking forward to facing Florida (10-2, No. 12 CFP) in the SEC Championship Game next weekend.
Oklahoma (11-1) also kept its place at No. 3, following the 58-23 hammering of No. 11 Oklahoma State on the road on Saturday night.
The Sooners are certainly playing like one of the best teams in the country at the moment and are expected to secure one of the College Football Playoff top four spots.
Michigan State (11-1, No. 6 CFP), which was tied for third last week, slipped one spot to No. 4, while the top five is completed by Iowa (12-0, No. 4 CFP).
The Spartans and the Hawkeyes will take on each other in the Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday, with the winner almost sure to earn a college football playoff semi-final spot.
Ohio State (11-1) is up two places to No. 6, Stanford (10-2), after beating Notre Dame on Saturday, moved up two slots to No. 7, with North Carolina, the Fighting Irish and Florida State completing the top 10.
Rounding out the top 15 are TCU, Baylor, Oregon, Ole Miss and Northwestern.
Slipping the biggest this week’s ESPN College Football Power Rankings was the Navy (9-2), which dropped nine places to No. 24.
