College Football Preseason Coaches Poll – Aug 2

MIAMI, FL — Defending national champion Alabama topped the NCAA College Football Coaches preseason poll, released on Thursday (2).

The Crimson Tide collected 61 of the 65 first-place votes from the panel for 1621 points and will start a new season in the Top 3 for the ninth consecutive year.

Alabama opens the new season against Louisville in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday, Septemeber 1 at 7:00 pm, live on ABC.

Clemson picked three first-place votes to claim the No. 2 spot in the preseason rankings while Ohio State received the final first-place vote to check in at No. 3.

Beaten College Football Playoffs finalist Georgia comes in at No. 4 with Oklahoma completing the Top 5.

Washington comes next at No. 6 and is followed by Wisconsin, Miami, Penn State and Auburn in the Top 10.

Rounding out the Top 15 are Notre Dame, Michigan State, Stanford, Michigan and USC.

TCU is at No. 16 and the men from Texas are followed by Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, Florida State and West Virginia in the Top 20.

Four Florida Teams In Associated Press College Football Preseason Poll

Texas, Boise State, UCF, LSU and Oklahoma State rounded out the next five.

Among the teams not in the Top 25, but receiving votes are South Carolina, Florida, Texas A&M and Oregon.
