COLOMBUS, OHIO — The highlight this week so far is No. 9 Michigan beating defending champion and No. 3 Ohio State 17-14 with a late field goal attempt.
Michael Geiger made a 41-yard field goal as time expired and the Spartans (10-1, 6-1 Big Ten) handed the Buckeyes (10-1, 6-1 Big Ten) its first loss of the season.
The defeat also snapped Ohio State’s 23-game winning streak, and put the reigning champion in a sticky position to make the college football playoff.
Buckeyes running back Ezekiel Elliott voiced his disapproval with the play calling in the defeat, while revealing he will not return to the school for next season.
“How we lost, I just feel like we weren’t put in the right opportunity to win this game, we weren’t put in the right situations to win this game,” Elliott said.
“I don’t think Michigan State was better than us. They weren’t. We didn’t execute.”
He added: “Honestly, this is my last game in the Shoe [Horseshoe]. I mean, there’s no chance of me coming back next year.
