CONCACAF World Cup Wrap: Wins for Mexico, Costa Rica, but USA, Jamaica held

(Sporting Alert) — Arsenal forward Joel Campbell was again on target again and Alvaro Saborio netted a for Costa Rica, who hammered Guyana 4-0 in their CONCACAF, 3rd round Group B game on Tuesday night.

In other games, Jamaica played to what they described as a disappointing 0-0 draw away to Antiqua and Barbuda, USA drew 1-1 with Guatemala, but Mexico beat El Salvador 2-1 on the road.

Arsenal striker Campbell, who was on loan last season scored for the second time in successive games when he finished well over the head of the rushing keeper in the 78th minute – a goal that game Costa Rica a comfortable 4-0 lead.

Earlier, Saborio setup the win with a hat-trick when he netted in the 20th, 26th and 52nd minutes of play.

Also in Group B, Hector Moreno scored an 82nd minute winner for Mexico to edged hosts El Salvador 2-1.

Jesus Zavala opened for Mexico in the 59th, but Pacheco equalised in the 65th.

In the USA game, Clint Dempsey gave the visitors a 1-0 lead five minutes before half-time, but Marco Papa netted in 83rd to earn Guatemala a share of the points.

Jamaica missed the chance of going to the top of the group after playing to a 0-0 draw against Antiqua and Barbuda.

In Group C Canada and Honduras finished 0-0, while Nelson Barahona scored in the 57nd and Panama beat Cuba 1-0.
