(Sporting Alert) — Bayern Munich midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri starts for Switzerland in their World Cup 2014 qualifier against Cyprus on the road.

The 21-year-old Shaqiri, who has scored once for in qualifiers thus far, plays alongside Gökhan Inler, Valon Behrami and Valentin Stocker in midfield and is expected to offer lots of goal threatening support for strikers Innocent Emeghara and Innocent Emeghara, who gets the start today.
Inler will also be a strong attacking threat, while Johan Djourou, who is out on loan from Arsenal will lead the defensive line for Switzerland which head Group F of Europe Qualification.
Cyprus will be hoping to improve their current qualifying record after losing three of their four games and sits last in the six country group on three points.
