The Barcelona forward has been in good form recently and has been rewarded with a place in Vicente del Bosque for tonight’s game at El Molinon.

Villa’s teammate Victor Valdes has been handed the starting place in goal with captain and first choice keeper Iker Casillas out injured.

There is no Xavi, who was not risk, but midfield is still world-class, as Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas Sergio Busquets David Silva and Arsenal’s playmaker Santi Cazorla all start tonight.

Gerard Pique is partnered by Sergio Ramos at center-back, while a superb bench that includes Juan Mata, Xabi Alonso, David De Gea, Pedro and Isco has been assembled.

There is no Fernando Torres, whose form for Chelsea has once again cost him a call up.
