PASADENA, CA, Sporting Alert – The 2016 Copa America will continue on day 2 Saturday evening with three games, with one of the tournament favourites, Brazil opening its campaign.
James Rodriguez and Colombia defeated host country USA 2-0 in Friday night’s opener and the tournament resumes with a double- header from Group B and the second game in Game A.
Highlighting the fixtures on Saturday is the battle between Brazil and Ecuador at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, Calif.
Brazil enters the competition without several stars, including PSG duo Thiago Silva and David Luiz, Barcelona forward Neymar, as well as Rafinha and Kaka, who both suffered injuries before the start of the tournament, but head coach Dunga has a lot of talents available to still be considered a solid title contender.
While Kaka and Rafinha missed out with injuries, Neymar has decided to skip the tournament to concentrate on representing his country at the Rio Olympics in August.
Among the top players available for selection on Saturday and throughout the tournament are Dani Alves, Filípe Luís, Philippe Coutinho and Willian, with the likes of Gabriel and Lucas Lima also seeking to impress.
Meanwhile, Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia will headline Ecuador’s team sheet, with the likes of Enner Valencia of West Ham, Swansea’s Jefferson Montero and Walter Ayovi also expected to feature.
Fox Sports 1 USA will broadcast the game live, with Fox Soccer 2Go USA also streaming the action live, beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET.
In the meantime, the other two games on the schedule for Saturday are Costa Rica against Paraguay and Haiti vs Peru.
Costa Rica, which impressed at the FIFA World Cup two-years-ago, and South Americans Paraguay will battle in Group A at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, FL, while Haiti and Peru will meet in Group B at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, WA.
Watch live television coverage of the Costa Rica v Paraguay game on Fox Network starting at 5:00 p.m. ET and the Haiti against Peru on Fox Sports 2 USA, at 7:30 p.m.
Both games are also streaming live on Fox Soccer 2Go USA.
