Delano Williams completes Champs 100/200 double; 13-year-old runs 21.87secs; Live

KINGSTON, Jamaica (Sporitng Alert) — Delano Williams just missed the Class One boys 200 metres record set by Usain Bolt, but did go on to complete the sprint double for his class at the Boys and Girls Champs 2013 at the National Stadium on Saturday.

Williams, representing Munro College, clocked a personal best of 20.27 seconds to dominate the half-lap event, but fell short of the 20.25secs meet record set by Bolt in 2003.

Finishing second was Odial Todd of Green Island and he posted a PB of 20.78secs, while Javon Francis of Calabar also ran a best of 20.82 for third place. Jevaughn Minzie, who ran 20.96secs in the semi-finals finished outside the medals.

In the girls Class One race, Shericka Jackson became the first sub 23-seconds female runner at Champs when she clocked 22.98 to beat Monique Spencer of Edwin Allen, 23.44 and Kedeisha Dallas, Holmwood, 23.61.

Jhevaughn Matherson, a 13-year-old Kingston College sprinter, shattered the Class Three boys 200m record again, with a 21.87secs performace, improving his mark of 22.02 set in the semi-finals.

Calabar currently have 224 points and lead the boys point standings, ahead of Kingston College, 181 and Jamaica College, 177.

On the girls side Edwin Allen lead with 242.50pts, Holmwood 226.50, St Jago, 155 and VERE 152.
