EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. Sporting Alert – Philadelphia Eagles star DeMarco Murray has failed to recover from a hamstring injury and is OUT of for today’s NFL clash at the New York Jets.

Murray was listed as questionable by the Eagles for this game, but after taking part in a full session on Friday, the running back was optimistic about his chance of playing.
However, ESPN is reporting that the 27-year-old has been ruled out of the contest, with the club listing him among the inactive players.
And although Murray has not been producing at his expected standard in the season thus far, his absence for Sunday’s game will be a big blow for Chip Kelly, who was positive that his star back would have recovered enough to feature.
At the same time, Kelly has been preparing his team to face the Jets with the view that Murray might have been out, so the news has not caught the coaching staff totally off guard.
Kelly, the Eagles (0-2) reported on its website is expected to use Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles in combination to fill the space left by Murray.
Mathews and Sproles have combined for 50 yards on 10 carries from the opening two games of the season, with the latter leading the way with 46 of those yards on six carries.
The Eagles have also listed three other starters as inactive.
Those who will not play as well are wide receiver Josh Huff (hamstring), inside linebacker Mychal Kendricks(hamstring) and defensive end Cedric Thornton (hand), the club is reporting.
Rookie linebacker Jordan Hicks will get his first career start for the Eagles as he will come into the team in place of Kendricks and the injured Kiko Alonso (knee).
The New York Jets (2-0), searching for it’s third successive win to start the season, has listed Geno Smith and Devin Smith active, with wide receiver Eric Decker also active after recovering from a knee problem.
