LONDON, Sporting Alert – Moussa Dembele jumped off the bench to scored a double as Lyon secured a 2-1 from behind to win over Arsenal in the 2019 Emirates Cup on Sunday.
Gunners forward Alexandre Lacazette hobbled off with an injury in the 13th minute in a dominating first-half performance.
Lacazette was pictured wearing a protective boot on his left foot, but Arsenal boss Unai Emery is hoping that it is not serious.
“We are thinking it’s not serious,” Emery said. “He [Lacazette] decided with a doctor and with me that it’s better to not to take a furthermore risk.
“He tried to continue playing but it was better in preseason not to take a risk. The doctor said he is going to check tomorrow but he is thinking it is not serious. He has a sprained ankle.”
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang handed Arsenal a 35th-minute lead when the forward intelligently guided home a cross from Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
However, Lyon roared back to after the break with two goals from Dembele, who came into the game to start the second half.
He scored his first of the day when he knotted things on 66 minutes with a header from Memphis Depay’s cross.
Summer signing Gabriel Martinelli thought he had given Arsenal back the lead when he squeezed the ball home, but the Brazilian saw his effort flagged away for offside.
Lyon then broke down the pitch and went ahead when Dembele, played through from midfield, kept his cool to slot past Bernd Leno with 15 minutes left in the game.
Emery had decided against including Sead Kolasinac and Mesut Ozil in his Arsenal squad after the pair were involved in an attempted car-jacking earlier in the week, while Dani Ceballos made his Arsenal debut.
