LONDON, Sporting Alert – Angel Di Maria edges closers towards leaving Manchester United with the Press Association reporting that the winger will have a medical with Paris Saint-Germain in the next 24 hours.
Di Maria did not join up with the Manchester United squad on the tour of the United States last month as it was understood the player had told his representatives that he wants to leave the club.
According to reports, PSG and Manchester United have agreed to a transfer fee of £44m, almost £16m less than what the Premier League club paid for him last season – but Van Gaal believes it is best to let him leave.
The Press Association reports that Di Maria is set to meet with PSG officials in Doha on Sunday ahead of his proposed move to the French champions.
It is believed Manchester United are hoping to get the deal done as swiftly as possible, as they seek to wrap things up for Barcelona winger Pedro.
Van Gaal believes adding pace to his squad will make the Old Trafford outfits better placed to challenge for the English Premier League title this coming season and he thinks Pedro will be a fantastic fit to the current setup.
United were hoping that Di Maria would have been the one to lead the club back to top of the Premier League, but the Argentine has simply found it difficult to settle down in Manchester United and would rather move on to the beautiful city of Paris.
Another player that could leave Old Trafford before the summer transfer window closes is goalkeeper David de Gea.
Like Di Maria, the Spanish international seems to be wanting to leave Manchester United and reports are claiming van Gaal has instructed the club’s board to sell the player as he feels it makes no sense holding on to someone who is unhappy.
