No. 15 GONZAGA 100, No. 4 ALBAMA 90
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Drew Timme matched his season-high by scoring 29 points and No. 15 Gonzaga overcame a 36-point performance from Brandon Miller to beat Alabama in the C.M. Newton Classic on Saturday.
Timme also collected 10 rebounds, four assists and went 12 of 18 on shots from the field to help the Bulldogs (9-3) remind the nation that they are still one of the best teams in country. Anton Watson finished with 17 points, five rebounds and three steals for Gonzaga, which collected 12 points and five steals from reserve Malachi Smith and 11 points each from Julian Strawther and Rasir Bolton
Miller scored 26 points in the second half, including the team’s first 10 to lead Alabama, which had won four straight and beat two No. 1 teams to earn their highest ranking in 15 years.
Miller had six rebounds as well, while Jaden Bradley scored 18 points and Noah Clowney added nine points with 13 rebounds for the Crimson Tide (9-2) in the defeat.
