NEW YORK, Sporting Alert – Duke is ranked No. 1 in The Associated Press college basketball preseason top 25 rankings, which was released on Monday.
The Blue Devils, who were selected as the top-ranked team in the AP top 25 preseason poll for the eighth time in program history, collected 58 of the 65 first-place votes from the national media panel and 1,612 points.
Duke finished last season with a 25-11 record and was at No. 19.
Coach Mike Krzyzewski return three of his starters from last season’s team and has arguably the country’s top recruiting class coming in this season.

“Certainly, we’re excited that people think highly of our team, and the ACC as a whole.”
Kentucky, which received two first-place votes from the panel, is No. 2 in the rankings, while Kansas, which finished last year as the top-ranked team in the nation, comes in at No. 3 in the preseason release.
