Greenville, NC (Sporting Alert) – East Carolina said on Wednesday that three players have been suspended for its NCAAF season opener against Appalachian State on Saturday.
Suspended are three wide receivers, senior Dayon Arrington, sophomore Danny Webster and redshirt freshman Antonio Cannon.
The trio, the University said, were suspended after they violated team policy.
“Dayon, Danny and Antonio have been suspended for a violation of team policy,” head coach Ruffin McNeill said.
He, however, left it at that.
“There are rules and policies in place for a reason and we expect those to be followed, unconditionally,” he added.
Arrington, who has played in 23 games, has 13 career receptions for 124 yards, while Webster was entering the new season on the back of a strong rookie campaign in 2011, where he had 43 receptions for 418 yards.
Cannon was preparing to make his collegiate debut.
