LONDON (Sporting Alert) — England will go in search of goals tonight when the home side take on San Marino in a 1014 World Cup qualifying game at Wembley Stadium.

The have calls from several pundits and former player for a thrashing, with Michael Owen saying “i’m going for an 8-0 hammering tonight. Will be disappointed with anything less than five!”

Wayne Rooney will lead out his national team for the first time and Roy Hodgson is hoping the Manchester United forward will guide his side to a big win.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Welbeck will play with the skipper in the attack.

He may have been snubbed by his Arsenal manager, but Theo Walcott has been handed a starting place, and will play on the wing with Michael Carrick back in midfield and Tom Cleverley playing in that area as well.
