LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Newcastle United, Everton and Norwich picked up wins in the English Barclays Premier League on Easter Monday.
A total of five games were played on Monday, with the next two games ending in draws.
Second half goals from Magaye Gueye, Steven Pienaar, Leon Osman and Victor Anichebe pushed Everton to a 4-0 victory over Sunderland, while Hatem Ben Arfa and Papiss Demba Cisse were both on target in Newcastle’s 2-0 win over Bolton.
Tottenham were stunned 2-1 by Norwich at White Hart Lane, with Ryan Bennett grabbing the winner in the 66th minute after Spurs striker Jermain Defoe had cancelled out Anthony Pilkington 13th minute opener.
Aston Villa and Stoke City played to a 1-1 draw, while American forward Clint Dempsey headed home a late equaliser for Fulham in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
