It was widely reported and even stated by club manager Roberto Mancini that Costel Pantilimon, who has been his start goalkeeper in the early rounds, would keep his place in the starting XI.
However, the Italian manager has decided to go with England No.1 Hart instead, which leaves a very disappointed Pantilimon has been left on the bench.
Mancini has also decided to go with Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero in his attack, with Edin Dzeko returning to the bench, despite scoring in the league in the last outing.
Yaya Toure has also been passed fit and starts in midfield alongside Samir Nasri and David Silva, as Mancini made eight changes to the side that beat West Bromwich in midweek.
Many are already handing the FA Cup trophy to Manchester City, but the club’s assistant manager David Platt isn’t getting carried away.
“Anything can happen,” Platt told 5 live Sport. “We’ve got to go out on the park and perform. It will be a very difficult game for us.
“We must put Wigan’s worries of relegation to one side and look forward to it. We won’t be complacent. The league table shows we’ve won more games than them, but this is all about a one-off.”
Wigan, in the meantime, make two changes from the side that was beaten 3-2 at home by Swansea City in the week, with Antolin Alcaraz and Jordi Gomez both starting.
