LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United are nine-points clear at the top of English Premier League standings after Sunday’s fixture of games.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s men lead the ELP standings with 62 points from 25 games and have won 20 of those 25, with three defeats and two draws.
Manchester United went 10 points clear at the top of the table on Saturday when Wayne Rooney fired them to a 1-0 win at Fulham, Ferguson was pleased with the difficult and very important win.

“It’s an excellent result for us and I’m very pleased with that,” said the Man United boss on www.manutd.com.
“They’ve had a great home record over the years and that’s a really important result for us.
“It’s a good position [being ten points clear], we’re pleased.
“It was a fantastic, battling performance.
“There was a great determination about us. I thought they were really up for it, the players, making sure they weren’t going to lose the game.”
Manchester City played to an exciting 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday, meaning the defending champions only lessen the deficit by one point.
City boss admits that it is now Man United’s title to lose, but also said the race for the English Premier crown is far from being over.
“The championship is not over, absolutely not, because of last season and also two years ago,” said Mancini.
“Chelsea were nine points behind and they were only two points behind when they went to United in the final week.
“I don’t think it is finished. There is room for mistakes. I think we probably need to win all of our games, but that can happen sometimes.”
He added” “Last year, we recovered eight points in six games. I don’t know why this cannot happen this year. The season is long, three months to go, and United have to play FA Cup and Champions League. We are confident.”
Chelsea, in the meantime, remain third with 46 points after losing at Newcastle United on Saturday, while Tottenham pulled within a point, following their 1-0 win against West Brom on Sunday.
Everton rounded out the top five with 42 points.
Completing the top-ten are Arsenal in sixth with 41pts, Liverpool (36), Swansea (34), West Brom (34) and Stoke City (30).
QPR remain at the bottom of the EPL standings with just 17 points, while Aston Villa and Wigan (21pts) are their company at 19th and 18th, respectively.
There will certainly be more movements at the top and bottom in English Premier League standings, with most of attention firmly at the top and bottom.
