LONDON, Sporting Alert – Tottenham handed Manchester City and Pep Guardiola their first defeat of the season in the English Premier League latest scores on Sunday, October 2.

The Citizens entered Week 7 on the back of six straight victories in the Premier League and were hoping to stay perfect in the domestic league for another weekend.

However, an own goal in the ninth minute by Aleksandar Kolarov and a sweep home shot from Dele Alli in the 37th, handed Tottenham a 2-0 halftime lead and they held that advantage all the way across the line to collect the three points.

Sunday’s victory over Manchester City ensured that the Spurs were the only undefeated team left in the EPL this season, while moving one point behind Guardiola’s side in the English Premier League points standings.

Third place Arsenal defeated Burnley 1-0 to stay close to the front runners in the early race for the title, as defender Laurent Koscielny netted the winner three minutes into injury time.

The Gunners moved to 16 points with the win and are just two points behind Manchester City in the standings.

Liverpool also moved to 16 points, following their come from behind 2-1 victory over Swansea City on Saturday, with James Milner scoring the winning penalty kick in the 84th minute.

Chelsea also recorded a win in Week 7 after Willian and Diego Costa scored second half goals to push the Blues to a comfortable 2-0 win over Hull City.

On Sunday, Manchester United wasted several chances and were held 1-1 by Stoke City at Old Trafford, which meant Jose Mourinho’s side failed to make up any grounds on those above them.

At the end of Week 7, the Red Devils sit on 13 points and sixth in the points standings.
