LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Results and standings from the English Premier League, following the games that took place on Saturday, Feb. 1.
Amongst the teams registering victories on the day were Everton, West Ham United, Southampton and Cardiff City, while Manchester United were stunned 2-1 at Stoke City on a night when Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Robin van Persie.
Everton stayed in the hind for a top four place with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa, while at the other end of the table, Sunderland beat Newcastle United 3-0 to move clear of the relegation zone and up to 12th in the EPL points standings.
Tottenham played to a 1-1 draw with Hull City, while Fabio, Wilfred Zaha and Kenwyne Jones, who scored the winner, all made debuts for Cardiff City, who beat Norwich City 2-1 to move off the bottom of the table standings.
