LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Results, scores and English Premier League standings on Tuesday night, February 11. There were four games played in the league on the night.
However, leaders Chelsea failed in their attempt to go four points clear atop of the English Premier League standings after Jose Mourinho’s men were held 1-1 at West Bromwich.
Victor Anichebe came off the bench to score the equaliser for West Brom, cancelling out the opener from Branislav Ivanovic, just before half-time.
In other results, West Ham beat Norwich City 2-0, picking up their third in a row to move into the top ten and even further away from relegation, Hull City fell 1-0 at home to Southampton, while Cardiff City and Aston Villa finished 0-0.
Manchester City and Arsenal will look to bump the Blues off the top when they play in their respective fixtures on Wednesday night.
Managers Reactions After Games
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho: “In the last 20 minutes they put us under pressure and they scored a goal as a consequence. Maybe they deserved that point. A point is a point and at the end of the season we will see.
“I think the game for 60 minutes was completely in our hands, West Brom didn’t put one foot in our box. We couldn’t kill the game.”
West Ham boss Big Sam Allardyce: “I’m delighted, it was a hell of a game Norwich gave us tonight. I had the chairman ringing me up to say we had not won under lights this season or last and that was in my mind.
“Our goalkeeper kept us in the game and we scored late, when it is hard for anybody to come back into it. It’s a great end to an important run of fixtures. If Norwich continue like that, they will have no problems. They were very good and gave us a good game.”
Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino: “We put in an amazing shift. We dominated the entire game from start to finish. We’re very happy with the performance.
“The entire team always plays for each other. That’s the Southampton way.
“It’s very important we take it game by game. We focus on the next game ahead. Now we’ll be focussing on the FA Cup game away at Sunderland which is an important match.”
Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert: “I thought David Marshall pulled off two world-class saves in the second half – the one at the end and the one earlier to his left hand side.
“Second half, I thought we were excellent and on another night we would have come away as winners.
“If you pick up points away from home they’ll take you a long way in this league, so I’m happy with a point.”
