Epl Results and Standings on Feb. 24

LONDON (Sporting Alert) – The following are the EPL results and the standings after the fixtures on Sunday. There were two games on the day, and both games ended with a two goal advantage.

Manchester City 2-0 Chelsea

Frank Lampard and Chelsea paid the penalty on Sunday after the captain missed a penalty kick and Manchester City scored twice afterward to take a valuable win and moved within 12 points of Manchester United. Joe Hart’s saved penalty was the turning point of the game for Manchester City, as Chelsea were then pushed constantly on the back foot after that.

Newcastle United 4-2 Southampton

Moussa Sissoko, Papiss Demba Cisse, a Yohan Cabaye penalty and an own goal by Jos Hooiveld guided Newcastle United to a much needed win over the Saints, with Morgan Schneiderlin and Rickie Lambert scoring for the visitors in the defeat.

Premier League Leaders

Manchester United lead the EPL standings with 68 points, with Manchester City second on 56 points and Chelsea, despite the defeat to City on Sunday, remained third on 49 points.

Tottenham, who plays West Ham United on Monday, currently the last Champions League slot with 48 points. Arsenal are fifth with 47 and still hoping for a Champions League slot, with Everton (42) sitting in sixth.

The top ten is completed by West Bromwich Albion (40), Liverpool (39), Swansea City (37) and Stoke City (33).

Aston Villa, after losing to Arsenal on Saturday, fell back into the relagation zone and they are in troble just like Reading and QPR.
