LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Stevan Jovetic is eyeing a transfer move to the Barclays Premier League in the summer, but his Fiorentina teammate Luca Toni has warned him against joining Arsenal.
It is widely being reported that Arsenal and Fiorentina have reached an agreement to sign Jovetic when the season is over, but Toni feels the Gunners aren’t good enough.
“I tell him to think carefully before leaving Florence, as there is an important project here,” Toni told ANSA news agency.
The Italian striker believes a transfer move to a club such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City would best fit him, should he really desires to move.
“If he has to leave, then make it for a real top club,” he said.
“Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United fit that bill, but Arsenal are not better than Fiorentina.”
Touching on his own contract status, Toni said, “We’ll talk about my own contract renewal over the next few weeks.
“There are no problems for me or the club and I think we’ll resolve the issue within a month.”
Arsenal are currently sitting fifth in the Barclays Premier League standings with 50 points and could miss out at playing in the Champions League next season.
Manchester United leads the EPL with 74 points, 15 more than rivals and defending champions Manchester City, with Chelsea and Tottenham sitting in the other Champions League slots.
