ESPN NFL Power Rankings in Week 14 On Dec. 8

TEXAS, Sporting Alert – While the Carolina Panthers stayed atop of the 2015 NFL Power Rankings in Week 14, the New England Patriots slipped out of the top three this week.

Cam Newton and Co. are the expected No. 1 ranked side for the second week in a row after they extended their win streak on the term to 12 straight with a hard-fought come-from-behind victory in New Orleans on Sunday.

Once again, Newton, who has to be the leading contender for the MVP honour this season, stepped up big time to steer his team out of another fourth quarter dilemma.

The Arizona Cardinals (10-2) are up two places to No. 2 this week after posting their sixth straight victory when cruising to a comfortable 27-3 win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.

The NFC West leaders have been impressive in recent weeks, which have apparently persuaded ESPN’s Football Power Index to back them as the team with the best chance to win Super Bowl 50.

Cincinnati Bengals (10-2) are also up two slots to No. 3, as Andy Dalton & Co. got back on track with back-to-back wins, following a short two-game skid.

Up next is a challenging test against fellow AFC North rivals Pittsburgh Steelers, who are still hunting a third straight division title.

Despite winning again without its first-choice quarterback, the Denver Broncos (10-2) slipped one spot to No. 4. Brock Osweiler continues to start for the injured Peyton Manning, who has been helping him learning the ins and outs of being a starting quarterback in the league.

Completing the top five in this week’s NFL Power Rankings are the New England Patriots (10-2), who dropped back-to-back games this past weekend.

Tom Brady and his teammates were losing successive games for first time since 2012, as the defending champions continue to deal with numerous injuries on offense to key personnel.

The Patriots have four regular season games left on their schedule, with three of those coming on the road against the Houston Texans, New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins.

Meanwhile, the Seattle Seahawks (7-5), Green Bay Packers (8-4), Pittsburgh Steelers (7-5), Kansas City Chiefs (7-5) and Jets (7-5) rounded out the top 10 this week.

Overall in the week’s NFL Power Rankings, the Buffalo Bills jumped the biggest — climbing seven spots to No. 12.

The Minnesota Vikings, Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens were the heaviest droppers — slipping five places in Week 14.
