Garnett, whose participation in the game was a game time decision, did not take part in the Celtics’ sessions on Sunday and Monday’s morning shootaround, and has now been ruled out of the game due to a leg injury.
The All-Star center has been troubled by an adductor strain in his left thigh, which forced him to miss his team’s game against the Charlotte Bobcats Saturday, but the Celtics also revealed that he’s not feeling well either.
“He’s sick,” Boston head coach Doc Rivers said. “He has a terrible flu.
“It’s not the injury. But with the injury (and being sick) it’s just too much to play.”
The Boston Celtics (36-29) are already without several key players, including star point guard Rajon Rondo, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an injury.
Boston are 2-0 without Garnett this season, following wins over the Bobcats and the Phoenix Suns.
It will certainly be a different story against LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and company, who ripped the Toronto Raptors apart in their last outing.
