MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — David De Gea is expected to keep his place in the Manchester United starting line-up for Saturday’s Barclays Premier clash with Tottenham at Old Trafford.
The Spanish goalkeeper has been sharing the spotlight with Anders Lindegaard, but it is believed that manager Sir Alex Ferguson will stick with the former Atletico Madrid star on Saturday.
Manchester United could also be without winger Antonio Valencia, who picked up an ankle knock at Liverpool last week and remains “doubtful” for the game.
This could mean that Nani could start on the right.
Ferguson has admitted that he’s yet to decide on his strikers for the game, but it is highly likely that Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney, who returned to action in midweek against Newcastle in he Capital One Cup win, will start together for the first time.
The game will also see the return of several first team players, including Shinji Kagawa, Paul Scholes, Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans and Patrice Evra.
Meanwhile, Brad Friedel is expected to continue to keep Hugo Lloris out of the goal again for Tottenham. Manchester United will against face Mousa Dembele, who played against the Reds earlier in the campaign with Fulham before his more to White Hart Lane.
Missing the game will be Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring), Scott Parker (Achilles), Jake Livermore (groin), Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Younes Kaboul (both knee).
