Torres has had his share of problems in front of goal this season, but scored two goals against Ireland and at times offer plenty of trouble to the opposition defensive line.
The Chelsea forward has been in and out of the starting line-up with coach Vicente Del Bosque opted to start with Alvaro Negredo as the lone strike in the semi-final outing against Portugal.
However, reports from the camp are claiming that Del Bosque was not too impressed by Negredo display and will turn his focus back to Torres as his striker, even though he went with a 4-6-0 formation when the two sides met in a 1-1 draw in the group stages.
Cesc Fabregas, who scored the equaliser in the team’s last clash could also get a starting nod again, with Sergio Busquets set to make way for his fellow Barcelona club mate.
Spain’s midfield is one of the best in the world, but the consistency isn’t quite there at the moment with Busquets, Xabi Alonso and Xavi operating in the middle and Del Bosque will look to change things up a bit.
Italy has been playing well since the group stages and dumped Germany 2-1 in their semi-final contest with Manchester City forward Mario Balotelli scoring both goals.
Balotelli has vowed to deliver some of the same against Spain.
