Final Points Standings – Champs 2013; Calabar, Holmwood WINNERS!

RECORDS TUMBLED AT JAMAICA HS BOYS AND GIRLS CHAMPS 2013. BEST EVER?!

KINGSTON, Jamaica (Sporting Alert) — Calabar and Holmwood Technical were crowned champions at the Jamaica High School Boys and Girls Champs 2013, held the National Stadium on Saturday.

A total of 30 records were shattered at the five day Championships, which started on Tuesday evening.

Defending champions Calabar High School dominated the fifth and final day of action on Saturday defend their crown – tallying Calabar 299 points from 40 Finals, beating overnight leaders Jamaica College (JC) 258.5 and fellow rivals Kingston College (KC) 247.5. Wolmer’s finished fourth with 121pts with 5th going to St. Jago with 107.

Completing the top 10 are Munro College 98; 7. St. Elizabeth Tech (STETHS) 49; 8. Holmwood 48; 9. Petersfield 34; 10. Manchester High 29.

A never say die Holmwood Technical landed the Girls’ crown after a gallant last day effort that saw them reaching 310.5 points to overtake early favourites and defending champions Edwin Allen 305.5.

It was Holmwood’s 10th Girls Champs title in 11 years.

Third place went to with St. Jago 208pts; Vere Technical tallied 202pts for fourth and Hydel Group of Schools took fifth with 157.5.

Sixth was Wolmer’s High for Girls 112.5; 7. St. Andrew High 73; 8. St. Elizabeth Technical 65; 9. Manchester High 48; 10. St. Andrew Technical 35.
