ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (15 Jan) — Josh Allen led the Buffalo Bills to a 34-31 victory over the Miami Dolphins in an AFC wild-card matchup on Sunday. Allen finished the game with 23 completions out of 39 attempts for 352 yards and three touchdowns, but also had two interceptions and one fumble.
In the third quarter, Allen threw two touchdowns 3:11 apart to Cole Beasley and Gabe Davis, giving the Bills a lead they would not relinquish.
The Bills’ defense, led by six punts and two turnovers, secured the win when Miami turned the ball over on downs on their final possession.
Buffalo, as the second seed in the AFC, will now host either the Cincinnati Bengals or Jacksonville Jaguars in the divisional round.
Meanwhile, rookie quarterback Skylar Thompson of Miami had 18 completions out of 45 attempts for 220 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions in the defeat.
Former Kansas City Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill ended with seven receptions for 69 yards in the season-ending outing for the Dolphins on Sunday.
Bills’ Stefon Diggs had 7 receptions for 114 yards and Gabe Davis finished with 6 receptions for 113 yards and 1 touchdown in the win.
NOTE: Meanwhile, Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin, who suffered cardiac arrest and needed to be resuscitated on the field a couple of weeks ago, was reportedly hoping to be with the team, but instead watched the action from home where he continues to recover.
