England left fast bowler Tim Bresnan out of their team for the game on what looks like a very dry pitch on the sunny opening day.
But Steven Finn retained his place in the starting team, with spinner Graeme Swann returning after a an elbow surgery three months ago.
New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum had already made plans to bowl first had he won the toss so things went according to plan for the Kiwis from that stand point. Team news sees Bruce Martin retaining his place, while Neil Wagner plays instead Doug Bracewell.
