MADRID (Sporting Alert) — Cristiano Ronaldo netted a second half double to help Real Madrid score a 2-1 win over Celta in the Spanish La Liga on Sunday. But Barcelona continue to lead the La Liga standings after winning Saturday.

Ronaldo, who scored the winner for Madrid against Manchester United in the Champions League in midweek, gave the visitors the lead in the 61st minute when he fired home from close range, but Iago Aspas pulled Celta leveled almost immediately with a deflected finish.
Ronaldo then sealed the win for Real Madrid from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute after midfielder Kaka was brought down by the goalkeeper.
With the win Madrid moved to 58 points, still 13 adrift of leaders Barcelona, but jumped to second after Atletico Madrid were beaten at Real Sociedad on Sunday as well.
Barcelona lead the La Liga standing with 71 points.
Alexis Sanchez and Lionel Messi provided the goals in the 2-0 win over last place Deportivo.
Atletico Madrid dropped to third when they were beaten 1-0 at Real Sociedad with Xabi Prieto grabbing the all important goal in the 53rd minute.
Sociedad moved up to fifth and drew leveled on point 44 points with fourth place Malaga, who were held 1-1 by Valladolid on Saturday.
Rayo Vallecano climbed in the standings with a 2-1 win at home against Espanyol, while relegation threatened Mallorca picked a massive 2-1 win over the sliding Sevilla.
