SAITAMA, Japan (Sporting Alert) — Influential midfielder Honda Keisuke scored a hat-trick and Japan hammered 10-man Jordan 6-0 in an 2014 World Cup Asia fourth round Group B clash at Saitama Stadium on Friday night.
Honda scored twice in the first half, following strikes in the 21st and 30th minutes to help Japan take a 4-0 half-time lead.
Ryoichi Maeda had opened the scoring the 18h minute, while Manchester United bound Shinji Kagawa in the 35th.
Honda completed his hattrick from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute, while Yuzo Kurihara added the team’s sixth one-minute from time.
The win moved Japan to six points from two games in Group B – adding to the 3-0 win over Oman last week.
Oman will host Australia in another Group B game later tonight.
