The Southeastern Conference [SEC] Baseball Tournament is back in Hoover, Alabama, for the 2023 season. The tournament will be held from May 23-28 at the Hoover Metropolitan Complex, which is located eight miles south of Birmingham. Fans can watch live streaming coverage on SEC Network.
The tournament will feature 12 teams, with the top four seeds receiving first-round byes. The teams seeded 5-12 will play in a single-elimination format on Tuesday, May 23. The first pitch on Day 1 will start at 9:30 a.m. local time with N. 6 South Carolina taking on No. 11 Georgia in Game 1. No. 7 and defending champion Tennessee takes on No.10 Texas A&M in Game 2 afterward.
The winners of the games involving the teams seeded 5-12 will advance to the double-elimination portion of the tournament, which will begin on Wednesday, May 24. The championship game will be played on Sunday, May 28, and televised live on ESPN2 and WatchESPN.com.
Will Tennessee Defend SEC Baseball Tournament?
The defending SEC Tournament champion is Tennessee. The Volunteers defeated Florida in the 2022 championship game to win their fourth SEC title and this year they will be hoping for back-to-back titles.
Florida is No. 1 seed at this year’s conference tournament, and the Gators, who were the SEC regular-season co-champions are aiming to continue their good form at the league tournament.
The Finley Center, a 155,000-square-foot entertainment facility, opened in 2017 as part of the first phase of an $80 million Hoover Metropolitan Complex that also includes outdoor fields and event space.
The 2023 SEC Baseball Tournament is sure to be a great event. The SEC is one of the best baseball conferences in the country, and the tournament will feature some of the top college baseball players in the nation. Be sure to catch some of the action in Hoover this May.
