Syracuse is currently shooting 36 percent from the field on 9-of-25 and 37.5-percent from three-point range after knocking down 3-of-8 from long range.
James Southerland so far has eight-points, while Brandon Triche and C.J. Fair both have five points in the opening 20-minutes.
Michael Carter-Williams has so far contributed six rebounds and five assists for Syracuse (29-9).
Davante Gardner is currently shooting 4-of-5 from the field and he has nine points for Marquette. He also has four rebounds.
Marquette (26-8) are struggling from the field, shooting just 7-for-26, including 1-for-9 from three-point range.
Syracuse had led 19-8 with 6:05 left in the first half, but Marquette managed to outscore the Orange 10-5 towards the end to make it a closer game at the whistle.
