The German international will make his first start since the Champions League away game with Bayern Munich last month and manager Arsene Wenger is confident his big summer recruit is fit-again to return to best form.
In other Arsenal team news, Thomas Vermaelen is replaced by Nacho Monreal, while Tomas Rosicky, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mathieu Flamini all start on the bench.
For the home side Hull City, manager Steve Bruce as decided to go with strikers Nikica Jelavic and Shane Long as his front two, as he seeks to keep the pressure on Wenger’s side who are battling for a top four finish.
