The meeting will also see American former world and Olympic champion Justin Gatlin making his return to Doha, ready to put the past behind him as he concentrate on making the USA team to this summer’s London Olympic Games.

Campbell-Brown, after putting off her outdoor season debut will match strides with arch rivals Felix, and her fellow Jamaicans Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce, the Olympic gold medal winner and joint silver medallists Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart.

The Diamond League series this season is being used by many of the world’s leading athletes, although they will remain cautious in preparations for the Olympics.

“Doha is opening a season which is at a very difficult period, because athletes are thinking about the Olympic Games which is coming and it has been a great effort to have a good list of entries,” IAAF President Lamine Diack said. “But the quality here is very high and we have many stars here.”

“Doha opens a straight line in a season that leads to the Olympics. We are looking forward to excellent athletics in the Qatar Sports Club tomorrow and we are hoping that for the athletes and the organisers it will be a big success as we start on the march towards the Olympics.”
