Iowa beat No. 1 seed Virginia 75-64, advanced to NIT semis

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (Sporting Alert, Box Score) — Roy Devyn Marble scored 24 points, five assists and three steals and Iowa beat No. 1 seed Virginia 75-64 victory in the NCAA NIT Tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday night.

The victory by the Hawkeyes (24-12) not only earned them a trip to Madison Square Garden to play in the semi-finals, but it also snapped the 19-game home winning streak of the Cavaliers.

Adam Woodbury scored 10 points and eight rebounds and Zach McCabe added 10 points  in the victory for Iowa, which shot 49-percent from the field, including 8-for-17 from three-point range.

Justin Anderson paced Virginia with a career-high 24 points to go along with his six rebounds, five blocks and three steals.

Mike Tobey chipped in with 15 points, six boards and three blocks and Joe Harris added 11 points in the defeat for the Cavaliers (23-12), which started the game favourites to go through to the NIT last four.
