Iowa State win Midwest Regional women XC title, Oklahoma State take second

Springfield, Mo. (Sporting Alert) — Oklahoma State women’s cross country team has dramatically finished second at the 2012 NCAA Division I Midwest Regional Championships on Friday.

The results after the women’s 6K shows favourites Iowa State, who packed four runners in the top 20 – easily winning the team crown with 63 points.

OSU finished second with 95 points, one less than Minnesota, who had 96 points. The results mean’s that the Oklahoma State women’s team earn an automatic slot to the NCAA National Championships.

Northwestern and Tulsa completed the top five finishers at the meeting hosted by Missouri State University.

Iowa State’s Betsy Saina won the individual title with a time of 19:51.46. Al Tuliamuk-Bolton of Wichita State took second in a time of 19:55.67, while third place went to Iowa’s Mareike Schrulle in 20:09.31.
