OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (Sporting Alert) — Oklahoma City Thunder star forward Kevin Durant has reacted to NBA supporters’ comments about his decision to sit-out tonight’s regular-season finale against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Durant, a three-time defending NBA regular season scoring champion, was still on course to clinch a fourth successive crown, but opted to miss the game, handing the title to the New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony.
Durant, who is averaging 28.1 points per game this season, posted on his Instagram account on Wednesday, “SITTING OUT TONIGHT’S GAME, if you disappointed I didn’t try to go for the scoring title, oh well!!”
Anthony will now lift his first career NBA scoring title.
Meanwhile, a number of NBA experts, including Jalen Rose and Bill Simmons said they were disappointed with Durant’s decision to miss the game completely.
With the playoffs starting at the weekend, the pair claimed that Durant should have even come out and play for at least the first half, instead of just handing his title to Anthony.
