Following the early showers, some athletes are once again going through their early preparations for their specific events, while others are already in action.

The focus though, will be on the men’s and women’s 100m finals with several world-class athletes being involved.

There are rumours that former world record holder and Olympic 4x100m gold medallist Asafa Powell is nursing an injury and needed treatment on Thursday night as well as today.

Powell is expected to face world champion Yohan Blake, who had the quickest time over the heats on Thursday night, at 10.00 seconds.

World Indoor silver medallist over 60m Nesta Carter is also in the first semis, while Usain Bolt, the fastest man in the world and quickest this year, at 9.76secs, races in semi-finals two against Michael Frater and Lerone Clarke.

The women did not run preliminaries on Thursday and eight sprinters will look to book their slots in tonights final.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Veronica Campbell-Brown, Kerron Stewart, Jura Levy and Sheri-Ann Brooks are just a few of the talents looking for a London Olympics spot.

The men’s and women’s 400m hurdles finals are also included in tonight’s fixture, as well as the men’s triple jump and women’s long jump events.
